Best concealer is the topic that I chose for today’s post.I wanted to write a couple of posts about products I love and use on a daily basis. I am going try to film a video sometime soon. I have it on my to-do list!
Anyway, I will be having TONS of beauty posts on my blog – all that contains info about my favorite foundations, primers, serums, mascara, lipsticks etc. You can search through those posts in two ways, the first being using the “Beauty” tab up top OR use the “Search” bar on the left, upper corner! If you are new to my blog, my goal is to write at least one or 2 beauty posts a month if I can.
So what’s actually a concealer and is it ok to go without it. Basically, it is a highly pigmented foundation that will have to cover up minor imperfections. Concealers can be very tricky because sometimes and it really depends. One day your favorite concealer can work perfectly fine and next day it may appear powdery and flaky.
Ultimately you get what you pay for. I never had the problems with the circles with the eyes (and I religiously take vitamins and collagen which straightens the walls of underage that thins out with age. But recent allergy season that completely made me turn into a raccoon in the morning.
Best Concealer and #1 SOS undereye product of all times that conceals it all:
Best Concealer: Undereye Bobbi Brown Corrector – Porcelain Bisque
Bobbi Brown Corrector – Porcelain Bisque • Bobbi Brown • $27
It takes a little bit used to due to its texture and may seem like a MAJOR splurge, but trust me, it is worth it and it lasts forever! Once you master it (less is more is the best strategy) and believe me it’s going to take some time.
It is probably the most natural concealer one have asked for. I mean it covers it all: sleepless nights, allergies, weird unidentified redness or purpleness. You name it… I refuse to travel with it and it has to be in my house within reach.
I always know where is that little jar at all times. I never misplace it (why one would misplace their best concealer right?). I just simply cannot live without it. You don’t have to even apply it all over. I apply it most of the time in the corner of the eye for no makeup look. It survives 8 hour boating day in high heat high humidity in Florida.
Best Concealer: Best in Blending
If you are a newbie and you don’t really know how to bend evenly this is the one for you. Although after 6 hours it tends to get a little bit in the crease sometimes. But it’s a very easy fix. Let’s be honest you will be checking your makeup anyway by then.
Sooooo easy to blend. No issues. Lots of shades. No brainer. I use usually medium one although it’s a little bit too dark for me on my neck. It is actually common to have a lighter shade on one’s neck.
My weather conditions here in Florida are very demanding, it’s not ideal for the undereye area in high heat and humidity. But when it comes to face it works great! It saves me a lot of time when I want minimal makeup look.
Best Concealer: Waterproof
Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer
Lancome Effacernes Waterproof Protective Undereye Concealer – Clair 2 • Lancôme • $31
If you are looking for good old-fashioned mate camouflage it’s your guy. Really goes the long way. Good coverage very traditional texture. Just good classic value. Now it’s a little bit pricey.
I bought it and lasted me forever. I really got tired of it and I really wanted to try out other things but I felt like it will never end.
It is highly forgiving easy to work with and you don’t need much. Expect to use less than you usually use normally. I’ve met 95-year-old French woman that used Lancome exclusively all her like and let me tell her skin was ah-mazing!
Best Concealer: Dry patches, unevenness and other surface issues, scars.
Benefit Cosmetics Hide & Sheen Concealer and Highlighter Duo
Benefit Cosmetics Hide & Sheen Concealer and Highlighter Duo • Benefit Cosmetics • $14
Now I randomly picked it up at Sephora travel section and I tried it once and I did not quite like it at first. I don’t know why. It’s a little bit more pasty rather than creamy.
I decided to put it aside, but I happen to do some cosmetic procedures that year. I shaved biopsies (nothing too serious). It really takes time to heal and you have to follow a lot of rules and the healing usually takes a while. So you really cannot bother it a whole lot. You just have to wait it out.
Well, you know it’s kinda unrealistic just to go out with minor scars back in public. I happen to really rediscover it again and it stayed put on my face and on minor body scars until it healed up. It works great by itself but happens to disappear if you apply anything over it. If it matches your skin tone perfectly basically you want any blending at all. Surprisingly survived a pool day.
Best Concealer Hacks and Memos You Might Have Missed
Concealer hack #1 Moisturizing is a must.
Sephora Collection Eye Mask • Sephora • $5 Shiseido Set of 24 Express Smoothing Eye Masks • Shiseido • $63 Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream • Bobbi Brown • $52 Bobbi Brown Women’s Hydrating Face Cream • Bobbi Brown • $58
Above all moisturizer is a must. Due to a higher concentration of the pigment if your skin or under-eye are not moisturized properly. You can put the most expensive concealer everyone brags about and you will see it turn patchy and pasty within the first couple of hours.
If you happen to skip on your skin moisturizing routines recently, I found a quick mask is a good idea (if you don’t have time I just put it on my under-eye areas and lips only in the morning when I’m in the rush. Although masks should become your best friends.
Concealer hack #2
SOS Moisture may come in handy. If you don’t have time for a mask have a good moisturizer handy. The one like to use I bought in a travel size once again. And later upgraded all of them to regular size. This was the time I never looked back on spending a little bit extra.
Concealer hack # 3 Brushes
EcoTools Ultimate Concealer Duo • EcoTools • $5.99 Bobbi Brown Concealer Brush • Bobbi Brown • $29 Bobbi Brown Concealer Blending Brush • Bobbi Brown • $34 Eco Tools EcoTools Correcting Concealer Brush • EcoTools • $3.14
I have 3 different brushes depends on a concealer that I use and what needs to be accomplished. Overall favorite is Bobbi Brown brush and at the moment of purchase, it felt pretty overrated butIi was like… whatever I was splurge shopping anyway. Then I did not figure it out right away because it was smaller than I was used to. I had a couple of Ecotools brushes before it.
They will be coming up soon. But it proved itself right. It maneuvers so good and gets in all the problematic unreachable spots where nothing. Mine has a lid. Also, it is so easy to use you don’t even have to ha a technique or moves down just pretend you paint over with it. It was seriously refreshing and also I have noticed I haven’t been waisting a lot of product using it.
