BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®, beautyblender® electric violet, beautyblender® electric violet swirl) Sponge Review: First Impression & Overall Experience
Beauty Blender BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge did not make its way to my makeup bag right away I have to admit. I gave it plenty of time to prove itself first.
As I was still stuck in my ways doing my foundation with a brush, while BEAUTYBLENDER® sponge was popping up everywhere, earning all the awards and finally making its way into cult must-haves.
I finally decided to buy one, I could not help myself and I did not want to stand in the way of the progress and give it a try.
Shortly after I bought Beauty Blender BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge I was picked by beautyblender® to participate in their Ready, Set, Glow campaign.
So I literally received a complimentary Vox Box from Influenster for the review in just a week after I bought the original beautyblender®.
After comparing all three BEAUTYBLENDER®s I have, I found absolutely no difference in texture, performance or size. The only difference they have is the color.
BEAUTYBLENDER beautyblender® electric violet is absolutely identical to BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge but has slightly more violet hue.
BEAUTYBLENDER beautyblender® electric violet swirl has a marble swirl to it.

These days beautyblender® (the original beautyblender®) sponge is front and center in my everyday foundation and under-eye concealer routine.
And I more than excited to add cute BEAUTYBLENDER beautyblender® electric violet and electric violet swirl to my collection. Since they are limited edition.
So if you are wondering about BEAUTYBLENDER Brand…
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) was created to apply makeup easily by artist Ree Ann Silva.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) is definitely spreading their wings. First, they came in and stole the market of foundation applicators, later they created BEAUTYBLENDER® Bounce™ Liquid Whip Long Wear Foundation and recently they came out with RE-DEW Set & Refresh Spray (do-it-all mist that hydrates, refreshes makeup and give your skin a dewy and glowy look)
What is beautyblender® sponge made of?
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge is an edgeless, non-disposable (it actually becomes softer after a couple of washes) cosmetic sponge applicator.
It’s non-latex foam sponge, and once you wet it with water, it expands and becomes super soft, so you can create an even, smooth blend and bounce. When it air dries, it returns to its original size.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge was created with non-toxic, water-soluble dyes and you will see it wash away during the first couple of washes.
Try to keep it separately from the things it can transfer color onto. There are some holders below you can get for storing and transporting it.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) Sponge First Impression
No matter how set you are in your ways, prepare to include this magical thing in your routine.
Not knowing what to expect, I was very hesitant to buy it first myself.
Although the hot pink color was calling my name, I did not want this beautiful color to seduce me. As a creature of habit, I had no need to fix what wasn’t broken.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) Sponge To Buy Or Not To Buy?
I decided to read reviews and make an educated decision whether I should include it in my makeup routine.
I have noticed that every hyped up trendy product can be hit or miss, so I spent some time reading the reviews.
I have to admit I was hesitant to pay $20 for BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge, but I finally bought my first one at the local Ulta counter.
I came home, I opened it. It felt too dense, but I have noticed that most of the bad reviews were due to people not wetting it properly first. You see, if you do wet it first and squeeze out the excess liquid.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) Sponge Overall Experience
CONCLUSION: If I have to describe my overall experience of BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) I will say it’s a KEEPER, hands down.
From all the Youtube videos you will see that BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) sponge is almost like makeup religion. Once you experience first hand impeccable and streak-free finish, you will convert for life.
Once you dampen it you will have the least of product waste.
I use a microfiber clean towel to squeeze out the excess water out. The microfiber towel is very absorbent and it helps you to achieve the desired dampness faster (remember to use clean one!).
You don’t have to use a microfiber towel, but they are much more absorbent than average towels.
Just use the towel you don’t care for much, since it may transfer the pigment on it, especially during your first uses.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) Sponge + Different Foundations + Different Concealers
I used it on the multiple foundations I have. It worked well with everything I have whether it was a concealer, foundation, or tinted moisturizer: from drugstore to luxury ones.
BEAUTYBLENDER (the original beautyblender®) Sponge Techniques & Application
I must admit that there is a learning curve to it. I’m not a professional makeup artist, and I was able to achieve a streak-free finish in no time.
Use rounded side to blend large areas of the face with a light dabbing motion. Precision tip works well for covering blemishes and imperfections, around the eyes and nose areas and contouring.
Practice a light hand and don’t beat yourself up with it though (you may have seen those videos online when people seem to beat the foundation in their face. It looks that way simply because they speed the video up). Just bounce it gently until your coverage finish is even.
I manage to do my under-eye with it, too. I feel like it’s a little bit more gentle than using fingers or concealer brush.
But I have to admit it requires some extra skills. Hehe, I should probably buy small concealer ones, too.
